I’ve been watching the Warriors preseason performance, and I’m impressed. The Warriors are undefeated against tough teams like the Lakers and Nuggets while securing 2 wins over the Trailblazers. As it stands, the Warriors’ record is 5-0. A huge part of this is definitely Jordan Poole, who’s been averaging 23 points per game on 50% from the field, 40% from 3, and shooting 85% at the free-throw line. Honestly, Jordan Poole will walk away with Most Improved Player if he keeps playing like this. I really hope Klay comes back and plays as good as he did in 2019, since JP can add huge depth to the bench.

The versatility of everyone on the Warriors helps their case further. The Lakers, whom many thought were the best team in the west are winless, and lost both games against the Warriors. What surprised me about the Warriors wins were that Steph and Draymond didn’t play in one of the Lakers matchups, and the Warriors won by 12 points. This gives me hope because the Warriors can beat the Lakers without their star players while the Lakers had LeBron, Westbrook, AD, and Carmelo in their starting lineup. If the Warriors can play like this, they can easily make the Conference Finals against either the Clippers or Lakers.

The load distribution is great too, as Steph has more time and space to operate because of better spacing. However, Steph isn’t playing like an MVP right now. He’s averaging 24 points per game on 47-36-83 splits, which is average. However, I think he’ll come into his own when the season starts.

So far, Otto Porter and Nemanja Bjelica are great at stretching the floor and playing defense, so the Warriors have depth everywhere. This is great because they’re probably one of the more diverse teams in the league, with a great balance of scoring and defense, so this gives them a chance against any team. Moses Moody is explosive and is a bucket so far. He too, will add versatility to the Warriors bench. However, I am worried that the Warriors don’t have a true big man. James Wiseman is still out, so their only backup is Kevon Looney, but he isn’t who you want guarding athletic bigs like Embiid, KAT, and others. Once Wiseman and Klay are back, the Warriors will be locked and loaded for at least a deep playoff run. Boy, am I excited!
