Hey everyone, today I want to talk about whether Kevin Durant’s decision to leave Steph Curry and the Bay for Brooklyn was a bad choice. Yes, this is about Kyrie not wanting to take the COVID vaccine. The Nets are no longer a superteam, since Kyrie won’t be allowed to play in most games. Of course, Kevin Durant would only further “solidify his legacy” if he leads a team to the Finals with only one other star in James Harden. But if he stayed in Golden State, he easily could’ve won at least another 2 rings. KD’s legacy would only have become greater if he won more rings, even if he was on the best team in NBA history.

However, it is important to note that Durant made the Dubs offense more stagnant due to his isolation play style. In fact, in the 16-17 season, the Warriors perfectly integrated KD into their motion system. However, after they won the championship, KD started to isolate a lot more, which negatively affected the offense. The Warriors were still a great team, don’t get me wrong, but they weren’t the same. Of course, KD was winning with the Warriors, both in the regular season and the playoffs, unlike with the Thunder. If the Nets were healthy, KD would have 3 rings. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. KD went to the Finals every year he was in Golden State and won Finals MVP twice. He improved the Golden State offense and defense and made the Warriors the best team in league history.

On the Nets, he’s their best player on both ends, but he does struggle keeping bigger and shiftier players at bay. In fact, Kevin Durant was at his best with the Warriors and Stephen Curry, because Curry and the Warriors’ system can make any player better. So yes, KD was better off in Golden State because he could capitalize on open looks for himself and teammates and serve as a stretch big if necessary. KD played his best basketball on Golden State, and would’ve only gotten better in the Bay.
