Naman Mutalik Desai

My name is Naman Mutalik Desai aka TheRidgeGuy. I live in Redmond Ridge and attend Tesla STEM High School. I follow NBA basketball closely and enjoy writing about the game. I’m curious about tech and enjoy tinkering with Arduino in my free time.

I have a strong passion for empowering youth through community service. I am honored to be chosen as a member of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Youth Ambassador program (YAP) for two consecutive years 2022-24. As a youth ambassador, my main responsibilities include raising awareness about local and global issues, as well as developing programs and exhibits aimed at inspiring positive social change among young people. Apart from my participation in the YAP, I take great pride in being an active member of the Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee (RYPAC). As a member of RYPAC, I have the privilege of serving as a referee for the City of Redmond’s youth basketball program, where I contribute to fostering a positive and fair sporting environment for young athletes. Additionally, RYPAC provides me with numerous volunteer opportunities each month, enabling me to actively engage in various community initiatives and make a meaningful impact. I have recently been accepted as a 2023-24 Mike Yarrow Peace Fellow by the Western Washington Fellowship of Reconciliation. This prestigious fellowship will not only broaden my understanding of peaceful activism but also empower me to make a significant difference in promoting environmental justice and sustainability.

On this website, I plan to share my original articles mainly on STEM, basketball and youth advocacy topics. I sincerely hope that you find my content enriching.
