Stephen Curry made his 2974th three pointer on the right wing of Madison Garden. Curry has hoisted up more threes in his career than Ray Allen while making 3.5% more of those same shots. And his blend of volume and efficiency has allowed for his teammates to see great success. As some of you may know, Steph has gravity, and he’s used the confusion caused by it to score for himself and make plays for others. And it all starts with his shot. Steph’s unparalleled willingness to shoot ball from anywhere in any type of coverage bends the opposing defense. The Warriors, especially Draymond Green, have mastered their ability the convert on opportunities Steph creates for the team. Give Draymond the ball, let Curry run around, and then pass to the guy the defense leaves open! It’s so simple, but so deadly. And in true Steph fashion, he got that record breaking shot from within the offense. Draymond passed the ball inside to Andrew Wiggins, while Curry pushed off of Alec Burke to get a wide open look. Wiggins dished it and Curry cashed in! Now this play may seem similar to a hybrid of the Warriors’ elevator and low-post split actions. Which it is. This Warriors offense is revolutionary because defending against it is like playing a game of tag, where offensive players are running around through screens, and screeners are cutting to the basket. This offense system takes full advantage of Curry’s gravity, creating opportunities for everyone on the floor. It’s truly beautiful to watch the Warriors work. We won’t ever see anything like this again.
